Clapdale Wool 100g DK Hank – Hand Dyed
A traceable hand knit hank of own DK weight Clapdale Wool that has been hand dyed in small batches into one of three unique colours – grassy green, daybreak blue or field multi-colour.
Yarn manufactured exclusively by Glencroft from fleeces collected from seven farms within 10 miles of our warehouse in Clapham, Yorkshire Dales.
The Clapdale Wool project was launched to create a fully traceable yarn that benefitted local farmers with help from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Sustainable Development Fund. Farmers were paid a decent price for their clip and in addition a share of the profits from the project will also go back to the farms.
The wool contains all the sheep breeds on these local farms – Dalesbred, Blue Face Leicester (BFL), North of England Mule and Texel. It has produced a beautiful DK weight yarn with a reasonably soft handle and of course has the gorgeous smell of real wool.
We have scoured, carded, combed and spun this wool entirely in West Yorkshire.
Each hank also has a link on the label to free knitting patterns including one for a bias scarf and one for kids hat and mittens set, pictures of the knitted up items shown above.
