Hats

Some of our hats are sold in 11 traditional hat sizes (6 3/4 – 8), some are S – XXL, and some are ‘One Size’. Please view the chart below for a comparison.

Measure your head by taking a measuring tape and place it around the circumference of the head, slightly above the ears. This will give you our hat size in inches. When choosing a hat size don’t get something too tight as you may get a headache and don’t get one that’s too loose as it will blow off in a strong wind – like Goldilocks, pick one in the middle and it will be just right!

As you’ll see in the chart below, hats sold in S, M, L, XL, XXL tend to bridge more sizes than standard UK hat sizes. For example a medium (M) will likely comfortably fit both a UK 6 7/8 and a 7 head size.

Childrens
We have two sizes in our BB06 Children’s Flat Caps, these correspond approximately to:
Small | 46-50cm | 2-4 years
Large | 50-54cm | 4-7 years

One Size
Some of our hats don’t come in any sizes as they are “One-size fits all”. This is mostly for sheepskin and woollen hats as the natural fibres stretch and so fit ‘most’ head sizes. However if you do need a selection of very large or small size hats with your order we recommend you give us a ring on 015242 51747 as we are often able to find ‘bigger’ or ‘smaller’ versions of our one-size items.

Gloves

Use the table below to match Glencroft ladies or mens glove sizes with the corresponding inches.

To find out your glove size, measure the hand you normally write with at its widest point (just below the knuckles) in inches (make sure to exclude the thumb!), then round down to the nearest half or whole number.

For example if your hand measures 9 inches around at the widest point then that will correspond to a Men’s Medium glove.

Slippers

All Glencroft moccasins and slippers are sold in UK shoe sizes. Please see the below children and adults comparison tables for the equivalent European sizes we work to.

Sheepskin and calfskin are natural materials, so slippers can vary a small amount.

Sheepskins

Standard natural British sheepskin rugs tend to be about 30 x 20 inches (75 x 50 cm). Large naturals average 35 x 24 inches (90 x 60 cm). Large rugs also have thicker woollier fleeces – as they are from older sheep. Standard rugs are often what we call ‘silky’ as the fleece length is shorter and usually softer to touch.

British rare breed rugs are smaller than natural rugs – because rare breed sheep are usually smaller – with standards approximately 28 x 20 inch (70 x 50 cm), and large 34 x 20 inches (85 x 50 cm). Again larger rugs are woollier with a much thicker fleece.

Please note that these really are rough sizes because, like sheep, the size, dimensions and fleeces can differ so much and completely depends on the rugs we have in stock at the time of order.
